Our Body's Nutrient Requirements
Our body's hundreds of complex an interrelated systems require a steady stream of hundreds of nutrients to keep them all working in harmony with each other. Some of these nutrients are produced by our bodies and others are derived from the food we consume. The nutrients that are body's produce are usually at sufficient levels when we are young.
However over time our body's production levels of these nutrients diminish. Since we are all unique, the degree to which our body's production diminishes varies from person to person. Even within the same individual, one nutrient may diminish more quickley than compared to others. Nutrients our bodies require in large quantities are known as "Macro-nutrients." Nutrients that our bodies require in small amounts are known as "Micro-nutrients."
Organic nutrients include carbohydrates, fats, proteins (or their building blocks, amino acids), and vitamins. Inorganic chemical compounds such as dietary minerals, water, and oxygen may also be considered nutrients.
Deficiencies and Dependencies
When the amount of a particular nutrient is not at sufficient levels required by your body, it is referred to as being Nutrient Deficient. When the requirement of the body for a particular nutrient is at a level that is dramatically higher than the normal range required by most people, it is often referred to as a Nutrient Dependency.
Glutathione is the body's master antioxidant. Antioxidants aren't essential for keeping you alive, unlike the vitamins and minerals that plant foods contain. However, phytonutrients help prevent disease and keep your body working properly. They do this by protecting the cells by neutralizing free radicals that damage the cells, causing inflammation. Glutathione is powerful because each Glutathione molecule can neutralize many free radicals during its life.
Phytonutrients are phytochemicals found in plants that act as antioxidants. By consuming fruits and vegetables on a regular basis, you can increase the levels of antioxidants and decrease the overall inflammation in your body. Unlike Glutathione however, phytonutrients can only neutralize one free radical and cannot be reused.
Enzymes are biological molecules (proteins) that act as catalysts and help complex reactions occur everywhere in life. Digestive enzymes help to breakdown the food you eat and release the nutrients for absorption into your bloodstream.
Glucosamine and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) work together to help the body to build connective tissues such as cartilage. Our body's produce its own Glucosamine and as we age our production levels tend to drop leading to those aches and pains in our joints or all over our body.
Nutrient Deficient Food
The typical American diet includes foods that are grown in soil stripped of many of its valuable nutrients, including the digestive enzymes that normally are apart of the food that helps our body to digest the food and absorb the nutrients. This means that our bodies will not be able to digest the food completely and this leads to two problems. One problem is that our bodies won't get all of the nutrients out of the food that we eat. The second problem is that some of the food that is not broken down (digested) gets stuck on the walls of the intestines where it putrefies and begins to emit toxins that can be absorbed into the bloodstream, increasing your body's overall toxic load. To make it even worse, many of the foods are grown from Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) seed that carry its own set of health concerns.
Bottom-line
Between your body's normal deficiencies due to age and the lack of nutrient rich food, most American's bodies are in a constant state of nutrient deficiency. These deficiencies can cause food cravings that lead to over eating resulting in weight gain, in addition to many other health conditions or diseases over time. Damage done by these deficiencies may not been seen right away but may accumulate over time until the damage is severe enough to be apparent in the form of a conditions such as allergies (food or environmental) and chronic diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, High Blood pressure, Heart disease or Arthritis.
Solution
To close this nutritional gap, you should do the following:
Eat more Organic locally grown food. Organic food by definition requires that it not be GMO. This includes not eating meat or dairy products that come from animals that have been given Growth hormones, antibiotics or fed GMO feed. The best way to consume nutrients is in their natural form.
Take Supplements daily.

- Begin with a multivitamin to provide your minimal foundation set of nutrients. It should contain a broad spectrum of both macro and micro nutrients encapsulated in a liposomal delivery system to provide maximum bio-availability to the body. The vitamins should be whole-food based and not synthetic.
- Adults should include a supplement with Vegan Glucosamine Hcl USP and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) to ensure optimal health for your joints and connective tissues.
- Take an antioxidant supplement to help your body control rampant chronic inflammation.
(if possible find a supplement that includes the CoQ10 antioxidant) - Taking a supplement with digestive enzymes with each meal to aid in digesting your food to get the most out of it is also recommended.
- Prebiotics (fiber - feeds good gut bacteria and slows digestion) and Probiotics (feeds your good gut bacteria)
